Additional Shoalhaven Water Main Upgrade Package

UEA has recently completed a 2.7km package of water main installation in the Nowra and Culburra Beach region, which is approximately 2 hours south of Sydney. The works were spread over eleven sites of the Shoalhaven region. The aim of this package of works was to improve the water supply to a number of dairy farms, coastal towns and suburban areas.

The majority of the new water main was installed using a horizontal directional drill which minimised the disruption and damage to the local residents’ lawns and gardens.

SCOPE OF WORKS
The scope of works for the project included:

  • temporary water supply
  • supply of pipe and fittings
  • installation of pipes
  • all civil works
  • installations of fittings
  • testing and commissioning of the new mains

All works were delivered using internal HDD and civil crews.

ADDITIONAL WORK AWARDED
Due to the successful completion of this project, UEA Trenchless was awarded a further package of works – an additional installation of 1.6 kilometres of a new 125mm PE water main and the reconnection of 45 house services.

One of the major concerns of the new package is the likelihood of hard ground conditions. To overcome this issue UEA will utilise one of its two DitchWitch AT3020 HDD rigs that is capable of dealing with the mixed ground conditions.

The current package of works is due to be completed by the end of March 2016.
